Meet the challenge

01 / The idea

Learning to draw is
also learning to return.

You can love drawing and still find it hard to keep going.

A blank page can feel like a test. A finished piece online can make your own attempts seem small. And when improvement happens slowly, it’s easy to miss it.

A journal gives those attempts somewhere to live. A date, a drawing, a few words about what you noticed. Something to look back on when you wonder whether you’re getting anywhere.

The goal can be as simple as making another page.

02 / A place for your practice

Less pressure.
More pages.

Bring what you’re making.
Stilldraw helps you keep the thread.

A journal page with a drawing of a cup and the reflection: I slowed down and looked at the shadows.
A drawing, a few words, or both.
01

Keep the attempt.

Photograph a sketchbook page or add a drawing from your favourite app. Portrait, landscape, unfinished — it belongs here.

02

Notice one small thing.

Add a date and a few words. What felt difficult? What surprised you? A small observation gives the next page somewhere to start.

03

Come back to your own work.

See your drawings together, revisit earlier pages, and notice the things you might have forgotten. Progress doesn’t always announce itself.

A little structure, if you want it.

Invited challenges sit alongside your personal journal, with days and progress to follow. Your drawings stay private. Your journal is yours to use with or without a challenge.

03 / Our promise

Your practice.
Never the product.

Stilldraw exists to support people learning to draw. That purpose sets the boundaries.

Read the privacy policy

Human-made practice.

No AI drawing tools. Your drawings, photos and words are never used to train AI models or passed to AI-training platforms.

Your journal stays private.

No public feed. No follower counts. No need to perform. Your journal will stay private as Stilldraw grows. You choose whether to share a copy outside it.

Your data is never for sale.

We never sell or rent your drawings or personal data, or supply them to ad networks to deliver, target or measure ads. No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.

Free, with a way out.

Stilldraw is independently developed and free to use. Export your journal, or delete your account and cloud work from Settings.

A working journal still needs an account, private storage and basic service and security logs. Public website pages use cookieless visit counts to help us understand how people find Stilldraw; your journal is excluded. Our privacy policy explains this, your choices, and how storage and deletion work.

A note from the maker

I’m learning, too.

I’m building Stilldraw because I want to learn to draw, and I want a place to see the work I put into it. Not just the drawings I’m proud of. The awkward ones, the experiments, the pages that helped something click.

I want this to be a useful tool for other people finding their way into art. A quiet companion to practice, made to support the person doing the learning.

A few useful things

Before your
first page.

Is this a drawing app or a drawing course?

It’s a journal for your practice. Draw in your sketchbook or favourite drawing app, then bring a photo or image to Stilldraw. You can also save a page with just a note. Stilldraw doesn’t generate images or teach a curriculum.

Do I have to join a challenge?

No. Your personal journal is ready from the start. Challenges are optional and available by invitation. You can open an invite link or enter its code in the app.

Can I use it alongside a course I’m taking?

Yes. Use your own journal to record your drawings and reflections as you learn. Stilldraw is an independent companion, not a replacement for a teacher’s lessons, materials or course access. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the creators of the programmes people follow.

Who can see my drawings?

Your journal isn’t a public gallery, and joining a challenge doesn’t share your drawings with its creator or other participants. Authorized service administration may require access for support, maintenance or security; the journal is not end-to-end encrypted. You can read the full details in our privacy policy.

Where can I use Stilldraw?

Download Stilldraw for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, or open the web journal. An Android app is coming soon; you can use the web journal on Android today. Sign in to the same account to see your saved pages across devices. Cloud saves need an internet connection.

How is a free app possible?

Stilldraw is free to use and run by its maker. There are no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases today. Advertising may help fund it in the future; no format or provider has been chosen. Your drawings and personal data will never be sold or supplied to ad networks to deliver, target or measure ads. A change in funding will not make your journal public or turn your work into AI training material.

For learners & the people who teach them

Let’s make more
room for drawing.

If you teach, run a drawing challenge, or simply have a thought about Stilldraw, I’d love to hear from you. Thoughtful collaboration starts with a conversation.

Your note comes directly to me.
